This thriller is an adaptation of the Robert Harris novel. An English ghost-writer, the "Ghost" of the title, is contracted to write the memoirs of former British Prime Minster Adam Lang, (strangely reminiscent of a real-life recent incumbent). The project seems doomed from the start.
The Ghost finds himself led into a world in which a CIA intelligence cover-up is taking place. Shocking information comes to light regarding Lang. Was he a spy? Has there been a murder to protect Lang's reputation? Winner of a Silver Bear in Berlin for Best Director, The Ghost shows Polanski at the top of his form and in total control of the medium. Brosnan delivers a strong performance that strikes the right balance between fear and arrogance and McGregor is also pitch perfect.
Not to be missed, The Ghost is a suspense thriller which also makes a sharp political statement.
We look forward to seeing you all.
